Flint, MI Heavy Duty Fleet Mechanic

Job’s Description

Matrix has opening for a Lead Mechanic with Class 8 fleet maintenance experience. This position will involve delegating job assignments, overseeing workflow through the shop, diagnosing and troubleshooting, work assignments and hands on shop work.

 

An Ideal candidate for this position be a seasoned level 5 technician with leadership skills and ambition. Knowledgeable with the operations of a truck maintenance facility and takes pride in the accomplishments of a safe, efficient shop and a well maintained fleet.

 

Matrix Expedited Service operates semi-tractor, trailers and medium duty 24’ box trucks. Matrix operates 24 hour seven days a week providing dedicated route and expedited service to the automotive industry

Responsibilities Include

• Leadership and team building

• Prioritizing and delegating work assignments

• Ensure timely and efficient functions within the shop

• Diagnosing complex repairs

• Assisting techs as needed

• Provide feedback to Fleet Manager on performance and daily progress of activities

• Managing breakdowns and road service

• Hands on repair work in the shop

 

Requirements

• 10 years’ experience as a level 5 diagnostic technician

• Strong leadership and personal interaction skills

• Organized, timely and reliable

• State certification in heavy truck inspection and maintenance

• Freightliner truck work experience is a big plus

• Good communication skills both written and oral

• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and general computer programs.

Experience and License

• Heavy-duty: 10 years (Required)

• Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: 5 years (Preferred)

• Diesel mechanic: 10 years (Required)

• Diesel trucks: 10 years (Required)

• Licensed CDL Class A (Required)

Work Conditions

• Required to exert physical effort in handling and lifting 50 lbs. to 100 lbs. daily

• Will be exposed to potential occupational risk such as burns, cuts and exposure to hazardous chemicals. •

• Exposure to physical environment which includes dust, noise odors, extreme weather or other similar elements.
